Cowdenbeath Community Council

 

 Cowdenbeath Community Council held their first meeting in March 1977. They were the first community council in Fife.

 

Members of the Community Council are residents of Cowdenbeath.  

There are currently 13 members on Cowdenbeath Community Council.  We have vacancies for another 6 members.  Additional Community Councillors can be elected to fill the vacancies so watch out for a future  campaign to recruit 

 

Residents  have volunteered to canvas and collect local residents views on matters and issues which affect Cowdenbeath.

 

From September 2023, the following residents are community councillors:

W Aitchison, H Anderson, I Burt (vice chair)  P Campbell, I Cuthbertson (treasurer), A Dziennik, C Gourlay (secretary), A Lockhart, J Martin, D McLean, C Morgan, W Murphy, R Smith, 

Other Activities

 

 The Community Council  

 

  • Organise Annual Remembrance Day Activities​​​
  • Manage and distribute Microgrant funding from Foundation Scotland
  • Work with 4 winds trust to manage and distribute funding from Little Raith Windfarm
  • Work on various projects/initiatives (eg Love Cowdenbeath, Sculpture Trail,  
  • Support and help the Civic Week Committee and Environment Group with their activities
