ALAN STOTTS LEGACY FUNDING
In 2024, Cowdenbeath Community Council was honoured to discover the generous legacy of our dear friend and esteemed fellow councillor, the late Alan Stott.
Following the finalisation of Alan’s estate, the executors informed us that he had bequeathed substantial funds to support the ongoing work of the Community Council in enhancing Cowdenbeath as a better place to live, work, and visit.
Alan Stott was a kind-hearted and compassionate individual who sadly passed away in March 2021. He was a well known Cowdenbeath business man having joined his family’s business – Stotts - in the 1970s which was central in the high street for almost 100 years. He was also the dedicated Treasurer of Cowdenbeath Community Council for many years as well the Treasurer of the local environmental group and an active member of Trinity Church.
Through his involvement with these organisations he passionately supported many causes in and around Cowdenbeath and his bequest to the Community Council reflects his deep love for his home town .
The enormity of the responsibility of being the beneficiary has not been lost on the community council and numerous discussions have taken place (eg. Some with a few voluntary organisations who we felt could offer help and guidance in the matter ) Undernoted are details of how Alan's legacy funding is being used in his memory
